I can be playing Jazz one second, and with the push of a button be playing the nastiest metal there is. The amp will play any type of rock, from Zeppelin to Metallica. If you have one of these amps you know what's up -- Marshall stopped making the JCM 800's in the late 80's, making them a little hard to find. This head unit is the ultimate powerviolence brewpot. It gets loud as shit; You can't turn it past 5 when running thru a 4x12 cab. With two cabs, it's a religious experience. There is not that much hum at high volumes. The distortion is actually pretty versatile, you can realistically get whatever sound you want if you work at it. The distortion is very brutal, but without stepping into nuclear meltdown conditions. If you play metal/punk/hardcore, this has enough scooped-mid chunk tolevel buildings.
Specs: Probably weighs about 30-50 lbs, 100 Watts 5 12ax7 preamp tubes 4 EL-34 poweramp tubes (and one HUGE transformer). Speaker Ohm Selector Switch: 4, 8, 16 Voltage Switch: 115, 220, 240. 2 Speaker Outputs, Effects Loop, and Direct Line Out Jack.
Knobs on front: Prescence, Master Volume, Bass, Mid,Trebble, Gain, Reverb (Spring), Boost Volume, Clean Volume Clean Bass, Clean Trebble. Also Power and Standby.
